Outstanding social media service!

Despite bad service IRL from one of their locations I will have to say that this is great customer service online. I will have to give you (Me n Eds) the Social Media Service #WIN for the day! This is how you take a bad situation and make it better. Acknowledge the problem and offer a way to contact the disgruntled customer on a personal level. Rather than ignore the problem or pretend it was not there or heaven forbid block or delete comments take it head on and take the conversation to a more personal area. This validates you as being a caring business and someone who cares about the consumer! Lots of local businesses should see this and model this behavior. See the conversation below.

A Social Media Revolución

Today I decided to try out a restaurant on my lunchtime from work purely based on their social media presence mainly their Twitter presence and the conversation we have had.  I truthfully did not have any want to really try it other than that reason alone. I have my favorite cocina’s here in town and their food is tops but based on the chat that we have had over Twitter I felt I needed to test their social media presence and how it matched up with their service.

So right off the bat as I walk toward the door I notice a big chalk board with all kinds of information and on a smaller board was a “Like Us on Facebook” and even a handy dandy QR code that I presume takes you to said Facebook. So immediately I think well they are pushing the social media so that is good. I have had little interaction with the Facebook account but when I have it has been a good conversation. Now this is not meant to be a blog about what the interior looks like but it is very cool on the inside and even has a private board room thing that I want to try at sometime for some sort of professional reason.

I looked to try and check-in through foursquare, they have not registered there yet, I wanted to take pictures with instagram, and I couldn’t locate the business so I went ahead and put it in for them. This would be a great opportunity to offer the “Mayor” (foursquare) something special for frequent patronage. Just another opportunity that should not be missed.

I had my food it was delicious! Not only did the waitress come to check up on me I was also checked up on by the Twitter account as well. It is great to have wonderful service in person as well as wonderful service on social media. I truly felt that if I had any problems I could go to either of them and it would have been handled.

Overall, I hope that La Revolucion maintains its high presence on social media because they are setting a standard in this area for how to engage and interact with its customers. I offered up a couple ideas and I hope they go through because a Tequila Flight Tweetup sounds like a lot of fun and it is a great opportunity to spread the word of their awesome tequila selection! Below is a picture of the best stuff they got! I am very tempted to try this sometime but at $70, a shot I might have to start getting some payment from this blog to help pay for this. Anyone want to sponsor me? If you are in the Fresno area I suggest following them on Twitter!

Microsoft becoming So.cl (social)

Microsoft has quietly launched a potential competitor to Facebook and Google+ and even has a hint of Pinterest with its new SO.CL (that’s Social). So this is hot on the tails of Bings new social search engine that is being launched in fact I got my invite today so I will be trying that out. Right now, this seems to be in BETA and it is an experimental research project. It seems to be search focused on finding people with things in common rather than to connect with friends you have already or old friends.

Their main points of interest seem to be to connect with others that like the same things you do and you can ask questions and comment on them like stackoverflow or yahoo answers. You can share your searches with others  (now I am sure some of your searches you don’t want people to know about) and to discover new interests. You can even start a “video party” so you can share videos on certain topics with other users.  You can see how So.cl works by clicking here and watching the video.

I will be participating in this “research project” to see if this brings a unique experience to the table and the possible ways to use it to benefit a business. It does seem geared only toward connecting people but I am sure there is a way to put a spin on it for business and brands. I think this is a fresh new approach to Microsoft becoming a social competitor….I think Microsoft will do best to make a couple of social acquisitions to stay in the social game.

Already found a downside, I have to login with a Windows Live account or Facebook…..there does not seem to be a way to make a new login. Strike one So.cl

Are these truly necessary??

This is called the great American past time. Who does not love to go to a baseball game and enjoy the scene, crowd, cheering, and the beer! In addition, what could be the great American “waste” of time: Social Media. Who doesn’t love to tweet, share pictures and perhaps even tweet the players themselves and hope that they get a response back. However, these things are just plain stupid…seriously putting your Twitter handle on the batting glove itself? Why not on the bat? Why flash it on the screen when you are announced? This happens to be Justin Upton’s glove and if you do not already know, he plays for the Diamondbacks of Arizona. I feel this is probably the most useless promotion of social media that I have seen just yet…and I do say just yet because I am sure I will find yet another. My question is does the camera truly get close enough to read the handle. I have watched many baseball games on TV and live and you can barely read the names on the backs of the shirts at times. Well Franklin Sports I give you an “E” for effort but if you want to get into the social media game I would get a little more creative.

Next thing you know Chad Ocho Cinco or Metta World Peace will give up the backs of their shirts in favor of a popular hash tag they use or their own Twitter handles. Sometimes it is best to let things alone we do not need anymore selfless promotion just go out and play the damned game!

Daughter willing to take spanking over embarrassing photo!

So what do you think about this? There has been a lot of parents choosing to use social media against their kids rather than the use of any physical harm. The full story can be found here by ABC news. So this brings up the question are kids now so involved and addicted to social media that they are willing to take true punishment in order to have it back?

What ever happened to going outside and playing and making friends? I am a social media advocate do not get me wrong but I feel it is getting to the point of a true unhealthy nature with kids. I have see some pictures of kids posting rather racy pictures on instagram and posting party pictures on their facebook. I often wonder what parents think when they make a Facebook for their child…..is it really necessary? How do you feel about kids being on social media?

The local news Channel 47 reached out to twitter to acquire pictures for the annular eclipse yesterday. This is such a great idea to get the community involved and it also creates a buzz about the station because the people who are featured will tell all their friends to watch. In fact I my Twitter handle was featured :) sorry I am going to accept my 5 seconds of fame.

infoneer-pulse:

Teaching isn’t known to be a lucrative profession, but online marketplace Teachers Pay Teachers is changing that for some educators.
